Hi Mom!

Don was off on Monday d/t MLK day. He was home with Jordon and I got a call from his cell. I could hear Jordon jabbering on the other end. Apparently he was playing with Don's phone and called me at work to check in. What are the chances of him dialing Mom's number? The next day I got a call from one of Christian's twins... same circumstances. Apparently my number is popular with the under 3 age group.

Taking steps-- no hands!

Recently Jordon has been spending more time balancing without holding on to anything. Today I saw him take 3-4 steps with no hands! It is pretty exciting to see him grow and accomplish new things. He is also nearly running now with pushing the cart across the living room. He really likes it when you clap and cheer! Another thing he is doing is letting us know if we forget to put a safety clamp back on a cabinet, forget to push the keyboard back on the computer desk, forget to close the bathroom door, etc. He immediately spots whatever it is that he can get into that is normally off limits. It's amazing sometimes how he doesn't seem to miss a thing.

Christmas Day at Grandma and Grandpa's

On Christmas Day, we came down early enough to be able to go to church with Dad. Everyone was being very kind and commenting about how good Jordon was in church... meanwhile I'm thinking, are they serious? It can't be good to lie in church on Christmas day. I have tried to entertain this kid for an hour, picked up his toys off the floor when he threw them down 85 times, passed him down the entire row of family members, put him in the empty pew in front of us to stand and take steps, tried to keep him from drowning out the pastor with his loud screeching, and tried to distract him from tearing up the hymnals. Keeping him contained for any length of time anymore is getting more difficult... he's just so busy and flops around all over the place like a seal doing tricks.
Not sure how we managed to miss pics with the grandparents, but we did... aside from them opening their gifts. Anyway, Jordon is here showing his fascination with the remote control. We have tried to plant decoys both at home and at Grandma's, but somehow he always knows which one actually works, and that's the one he goes for. Tim usually manages to make Jordon cry, so Don has started calling him Uncle Scary. One thing Uncle Scary started that Jordon really seems to like is sitting on the top of the couch, and then falling off for someone to catch him. He giggles, squeals, and thinks it's a blast.
It's always a good time hanging out at the farm. Mom made a ham and her homemade rolls, we all brought a dish, and Aunt Sarah stayed up all night making endless amounts of cookies!

Jordon's First Christmas

We opened gifts at home on Christmas eve. Little man seemed a bit overwhelmed by it all. He was pretty interested in the bows and ties, and did manage to help tear open a few of his presents. He is one lucky little boy with so many people who love him and sent such thoughtful gifts! Some of the highlights were an art easel set and supplies from Aunt Sharon and Uncle Dale, books and a pack of whoopee cushions from cousin Megan (apparently so Dad can start him off right), and a singing sheep puppet and an authentic Paddington bear that Grandpa Ferrell and Joyce got for him on their trip to London. He was also pretty excited about the see-and-say with Buddy the farmer.
