Jordon's First Soccer Experience
Jordon had soccer practices much of the summer on Thursdays, with games on Saturday. We often brought Tristan's tricycle for him to ride during practices to keep him entertained. The first practice Jordon seemed to be having a hard time getting the principles down, and I was thinking, "Hmm, maybe soccer's not gonna be for him.". The first game there was a lot of crying on the field, and he kept saying he was tired from all the running- the games were 40 minutes long, which Don and I thought was a lot of running for the kiddos. They got beat pretty bad the first game, but the second game they came back with a vengeance. Jordon all of a sudden turned into the next Beckham and scored 8 of the team's 12 goals. The kid developed some real hustle and determination and was often the first one down the field just to be where the action was with the ball. Lauren and Karli were able to make it up for a game at the end of his season, when the weather turned much cooler. Grandma, Jon, and Whitney were also able to attend games and get in on the action. Jordon's team ended up winning every game they played with the exception of the first one, and were the winners in the tournament when they got to face the team that had beat them the first time. Jordon is really competitive (hmm, where does he get that trait from?) and kept talking about wanting his chance for a rematch with the team that beat them. The kids on the team really grew and developed over the course of the season (as much as is possible for 5 year olds). They really seemed to enjoy playing together. The team was all boys, with the exception of one girl named Alyssa. Dawson was a little guy who appeared light as a feather, who always seemed to be rolling on the ground. The soccer games were highly entertaining!
