Rough last few weeks

It has been pretty rough on Jordon (and Mom and Dad) around here lately. On January 24th, Jordon got a hand on the glass covering our fireplace and burned his hand. We immediately took him to the ER (longest car ride of my life). They did a whole lot of nothing and transferred us to Children's Mercy downtown. He did get some decent pain meds and everyone there so far has been great. We've been going back at least weekly for f/u in the burn unit or clinic. Everything seemed to be healing well, except for one spot along the index finger and thumb area. Since it's been over 3 weeks and it's not yet healed, they think they will have to do grafting, and it's scheduled for Wed. 2/18. I felt pretty bad about everything until I went to work and listened to other parents' "worst parent ever" stories. It is just amazing how fast things can happen.

Anyway, on top of that, on the night back after our trip to Columbia on 2/7, Jordon developed a fever and was inconsolable most of the night. The following day we took him to urgent care (hell on earth). We spent 5 and 1/2 hrs. there, and they told us he had a fever of 104.2 and RSV. I took most of the week off to take care of him, and during this time he was coughing, congested, and often puked after eating. He has become extremely needy, and has not been eating well. Between Jordon and the cats, I have become "the vomit master" as all I seem to do is clean it up.

Jordon has managed to do a day and 1/2 of daycare and done ok-- I'm sure they are thrilled to see him coming (about as excited as welcoming a fungus). He wails like crazy and continues to do so much of the time unless he is being held.

On top of that, despite loading him up with whatever meds he can have, he continues to sleep very little and has been up at least 5 or 6 times / night. I thought babies liked to sleep. Not ours. He'll sleep if you rock him and hold him... then when you put him down in the crib he wakes up and starts wailing again. It's been unbelievable.

One thing he has managed to do in this time since his burn-- he is walking all over the place now. Since he couldn't crawl for a while, there was no way he was just going to sit around and be immobile, so he has been working on his walking skills and now is getting around very well-- to the point of almost running.

Hopefully things will settle down soon and we will all get some sleep. Jordon is trying really hard to be an only child.
